This NASCAR themed desktop comes in four models, available through large retailers like Target, Walmart and Sam’s Club, or you can custom order one from ZT Group. We looked at the CA–NC001, which is retailed at under $600.
This computer has adequate components for routine tasks, like checking email, surfing the internet and running basic programs. Like all economy pc’s, this model does not come with a monitor but it does come loaded with a double layer DVD+/–RW drive and an 8–in–1 media card reader.
This model comes with an AMD Athlon 64 3200+ that runs at 2.0 GHz with 512 KB of cache. This processor is a bit faster than the average laptop and should perform most basic functions with ease.
ZT Cisnet’s NASCAR desktop sports a 160 GB hard drive and 512 KB of RAM. A hard drive of this size is sufficient for most uses, except for storage of massive amounts of video. Half a GB of RAM will run most non–demanding applications, but is not enough for excessive multi tasking or multi media use and of course it will have a hard time running Vista Basic.
In terms of video and audio, this system is basic. It is not designed for demanding online games or for editing video. But it does have the ability to play video, edit images and is configured for 7.1 surround sound.
With this system you can connect to just about anything, it has six USB ports, audio in/out, DVI, IEEE, an 8–in–1 media card reader, parallel, RJ–11, RJ–45 and TV–Out ports. It also comes with a DVD reader/burner, keyboard and mouse.
This themed PC is priced a bit higher than most economy PCs.
You can get basic support for this model through ZT group, like one year parts and labor. However, you have to purchase a warrantee package for things like 24/7 phone and email support.
This computer has an adequate configuration for running basic applications and accessing the Internet.
Upgrades to Consider:
If you are a NASCAR fan and are interested in purchasing this computer, we would suggest that you purchase directly from ZT and upgrade the RAM to 1GB for only $47, increase the hard drive to 250 GB for $20 and add Microsoft Works for just $10. Unfortunately, they do not offer a graphics card upgrade.
