If saving money is your primary concern, this HP might work for you, when we reviewed it, HP was offering a rebate that brought the price of the system down to $249.99.
This system comes with Windows XP Home, an Intel Celeron D processor, 256 MB of RAM and an 80GB hard drive. It also comes with a CD writer drive, two USP ports up front and Microsoft Works and Money.
Upgrades to Consider:
Increase the RAM to 512 for $40, add a CD–RW/DVD–ROM combo drive for $20 and with the rebates this computer still only totals around $310. With these upgrades and a monitor this HP would be a good student computer or perfect for simple tasks like checking email and surfing the net.
