The Mac Mini, for its size and price, is a great little PC. It only measures 6.5 X 6.5 X 2 inches, yet has an Intel Core Duo processor and is loaded with useful software. It has 512 KB of RAM and a 60GB hard drive and integrated Intel GMA 950 graphics. Although, this system has about the same hard drive size as an iPod (and only costs about $250 more) it does much more. It comes with the iLife software package, which includes photo organizing tools, movie creators and an audio editor.
For connectivity, it has four open USB ports, a firewire, a headphone jack, audio out, optical in and an Ethernet port. It does not however have a media card reader so this system will only work for you if your camera can connect by USB or firewire.
Upgrades to consider:
Increase the hard drive to 80 GB for $50 (you want to at least have it bigger than your iPod, right?) and if you are a multi–tasker or are into video and gaming increase the RAM to 1GB (for $75). However, for the basics, such as checking email, surfing the web, organizing photos and creating podcasts, the Mac Mini should perform just fine without upgrades.
